Central Park Banquet Theme

Our high school's Junior/Senior Banquet was held Saturday night. It was a "Central Park" theme.  I wanted to share a few pictures with you.  I especially liked the centerpiece.  Three vases with silk flowers floating in water, topped by a floating candle.  Then a few votive candles around the larger vases.  Isn't it pretty?  Simple and elegant!

I also liked the way they had the napkin folded flat, topped by a menu and a banquet invitation.  The whole thing was tied up with a black satin ribbon and a small silk flower bouquet was tucked into the bow.  Again....simple, but elegant.
Before getting to "Central Park", you had to pass through the "Subway".  Glow in the dark graffiti paint showed each Seniors' name.  The Seniors will get to keep their names.  Cool!
Because my husband was recently appointed to the school board, we were able to attend the banquet.  Kind of fun since our daughter is a Senior!  I stayed out of her view and tried not to go overboard with pictures :).  A teacher snapped this picture of my husband and I.  Any time my eyes are open during a picture with a flash is a rare thing.  I was excited that it turned out pretty good!  He's so handsome :).
My daughter and her friend at the banquet...posing in front of the Central Park street sign.  Beautiful!

Great job, Juniors and Sponsors! And the sponsors' husbands......I heard they worked really hard, too!

Thank you for your kind words Lori! We enjoyed helping them put it together. Simple and elegant was exactly what we were going for! It's easy to make it look pricey without spending a lot of money if you work hard. :) So glad you got to come to the banquet too since it was Lauren's senior year. :)

Cool wall how was it created?

The brick paper was purchased from a prom/party store and then painted graffiti style with neon paint, then black lights gave the "glowing" look to the paint and whitish outline of the brick mortar. Pretty cool, huh?! Of course, the camera's shot may make it stand out more than it was in person, but it was still really cool!

I am giving my daughter a sweet16 glow party and I am going to try this.We thought this was awesome. What color was the brick paper because I could only find the brown brick paper?

That will be so much fun! I love using black light and making things glow! I'm asking the teacher who was a sponsor for this banquet about the paper, but in the meantime, I did look up the brown toned paper. I know the neon/glow paint would still work on it, but it might not have the mortar effect that this paper had. I'm not finding any gray/black-toned paper like this was, either, but here's a link for Stumps party/prom. I do think the brown would work, still. And if I hear anything different from her, I'll let you know! We had a 80's themed party for our 3rd child who just turned 16. I did it more for me, but he went along with it! Ha ha! :)

She said they used the two-toned red brick paper from stumps.com. It sure doesn't look red, but the black light would make it that way! That's great, since you can still get it! Have fun! It is easy to get exciting throwing them parties! Happy early birthday to your daughter!
