Lady Bug Theme

Last night our church ladies had a Ladies' Night Out for ladies to come together for a time of devotion and fellowship.  We had 120 come to the event!

One of the ladies from the church made these cute little lady bug candies.  They're almost too cute to eat - ALMOST!

Hobby Lobby had this really cute lady bug burlap. They also had these garden pot hanging lady bugs - perfect to hang on the mason jars.  Fresh daisies were beautiful in the jars
Hobby Lobby also has a new line of lady bug party decorations.  They had the little baskets used as centerpieces.  This grass came from Michael's, but Hobby Lobby has some that we used, as well.  The little wooden lady bugs were from Michael's and Hobby Lobby.
We ordered these 2 1/4 inch terra cotta pots from Dollar Tree. They were really cheap, and come in sets of three.  Some of our young moms and young women got together to paint them red with lady bug spots, then filled a little heart envelope with seeds and taped to the inside. The directions are on the bottom of the scripture card.

It's so much fun seeing things come together.  Different ladies did different things, but it all came together perfectly!  Thanks to all who helped in any way!

Lady Bug Party Theme

I've wanted to purchase these lady bug-themed party plates for months!  So last night, for my annual church ladies' salad supper, the lady bug theme worked out perfectly!
I'm teaching ladies' class on Wednesday nights, and the book we're using is also lady bug-themed, it was an easy decision.
In case you're interested, the party store also had Baby Shower napkins and 1st Birthday napkins to go along with the lady bug theme.  At first I could ONLY find the baby shower napkins.  I had just decided that I didn't care!  I would buy them and turn them over to the back side! I was DETERMINED to have this lady bug party :).
I was surprised at the lack of lady bug supplies when I tried to find some extra decorations.  The little lady bugs you can see on the black burlap runner and on the "grass" below were from Hobby Lobby.
They added a little touch of lady bugs.  I especially liked the fake grass squares!
You may remember the jars my daughter painted using Modge Podge and food coloring.  They worked perfectly for centerpieces tied with polka dot and lady bug ribbon.
And one more little centerpiece of fake grass in a galvanized bucket, with the little lady bug picks and ribbon.  Such a fun theme for any occassion!

Ladies' Day Salad Luncheon

Click HERE for my post about speaking at the Waynoka, OK church ladies' day this past Saturday.  It talks about the theme and my lesson points. This post is more about the food :).
For the salad luncheon, the ladies has three of these serving jars.  One had raspberry tea and another had peach tea.  This one was just plain ice water, but look how pretty they made "plain water"!!  I love the addition of the cranberries and ice in layers.  BEAUTIFUL!
Trifles are one of the prettiest desserts to serve, in my opinion.  This one was delicious, as well.  I have a few trifles posted on this blog, if you're interested.
Fruit pizza is always a hit and these individual fruit salads are a great way to serve desserts.  Spring time fruit is in season and so pretty right now!
Have you notices the little cards by each dish?  One of the Waynoka ladies goes to great lengths to make sure each dish is labeled.  However, she goes above and beyond by making the cards "pretty", in the theme colors, and also makes the cards double-sided, so that it is visible from both sides of the table.  Both lines of people can see the name of the dish.  BRILLIANT!
More delishness!! (My spell check says this isn't a word, but it's a new word.  I made it up! :)
....and even more!
....and more!....
My plate.  Isn't it pretty?  Tasted absolutely wonderful, too!

Great job, Waynoka church ladies!!
