Chevron Bunny Wall Art

While decorating for Spring over "Spring Break", I decided I wanted some kind of bunny wall art.  I decided to look at Pinterest (unusual for me!) for "Easter wall art" or "Bunny Burlap"...something like that. I had this burlap canvas (purchased at Hobby Lobby on sale for $3.00), so planned to use it.

I saw a really cute Chevron fabric bunny, but I didn't have any Chevron fabric. Then I happened to remember that I had bought Chevron napkins and plates for Easter and a ladies' salad supper I'm having  next month.  I figured I could get two bunnies out of each napkin, and I would do two napkins - so four bunnies for my four children. But, to my surprise, there were SIX bunnies that cut out all at the same time! So, I figured I'd make our whole family!

The bunnies were quickly added to the canvas with a dot of hot glue in a few places. The cotton ball was hot glued for the tail. A quick Easter/Spring decoration for less than $4.00!!!

Using What You Have - Burlap Wall Craft

I have a bad habit of buying craft stuff, but not using it. I think it's because of where we live. We're an hour away from Hobby Lobby, so when I see something I might need, I get it. You just never know when you'll need to make something, so I always want to make sure I have what it takes to make it!

And it might just be because I'm a hoarder. Yes, that's possible, but it doesn't sound as good as the explanation above, so we'll just go with it. :)

So, my goal this year is to use up what I have, as much as possible. And when I wanted some new thing for a black spot on a wall, I remembered this goal and went looking for a solution.

I had a blank canvas, lots of burlap, a pretty roll of burlap ribbon, a faux metal tile backsplash that was kind of warped after falling on a steaming pot of boiling noodles, and a burlap/material flower that was pinned to a lampshade.

I wrapped the canvas with burlap, stapling it into place. Did the same with the burlap ribbon.  I cut the backsplash into a heart shape and hot-glued it into place, then aded the burlap/material flower.  It was a perfect solution to the blank wall and used up several of my extra supplies.  Yay!!!

Fall Burlap Wreath

(New Wreath for Friend)

A few weeks ago a friend asked me to make her a burlap wreath with some fall decorations on it.  It took me a while to find the time to get it done, but today I finally managed to finish it!  I actually like it better than the one I made myself.  I think I tried to do mine too sparingly and used just two rolls of burlap.  This wreath has 3 1/2 rolls making it fuller.  I may have to add to my own!

Directions for the wreath can be found on THIS post. (Now that I look back at that wreath, it wasn't very pretty with just the leaves on it, but I knew it needed more.  Was in a hurry to show you the "how to"!) I used a 12 inch wire wreath form for this wreath and the one in the directions.  The fall picks are just inserted into the wreath and the wired ends wrapped around the wreath form.  They'll be easy to remove when my friend wants to change it up.  The brown burlap ribbon bow is tied on for easy removal.  Other smaller brown burlap ribbon is tucked into the wreath, not even secured - just poked into the loops.

(This is my first wreath, but updated with a burlap bow topped with a brown burlap ribbon bow.  Satin orange ribbon and brown burlap thinner ribbon is weaved in and out within the loops. This is only two rolls of burlap, so thinner and less full, but still full enough to work.)

The cost for the wreath for my friend (top picture) was about $48.00 and that is with some items 50% off.  Maybe if you hit it just right you could get a few things a little cheaper, though.  When my friend left she said she'd send others my way.  I told her not to!  I certainly don't have the time to sit around making wreaths all of the time, though didn't mind doing it for her at all.  And if I did, I'd have to start charging for my time.  Not sure anyone would want to pay $75.00 for this wreath.  But maybe you do and maybe you would like to make these wreaths.  Have at it!  I'll just do it for fun......and only occasionally! :)  Like once or twice a year! (ha ha!)

Burlap Trimmed Lampshade

This ivory lamp shade was dirty and plain.  My husband had picked up some burlap sacks from a farm supply store (They were on sale for 99 cents!!!) so I could use a few for decorating.  These trims were made with the seam parts of the bag.  I just cut the bottom or sides of the bag into about 2 inch strips, turned them over to the inside of the seam side, frayed the edges of the bigger, underneath piece, and hot-glued the trip on.  For the top trim, I made it ruffled by scrunching it up some as I glued.

The flower is a new addition to the scrapbooking section at Hobby Lobby.  The burlap flower is hotglued on and the organza/muslin ivory flower is a sticker.  What a quick "fix up" for this less-than-new lampshade!
