Chicks 'n Bunnies

Well, I had a great new recipe all ready to publish for you this morning.  I was so excited about it!  But there was a big problem:  It was NOT GOOD!  It was a BIG FLOP! So, it's back to the drawing board with the Crock Pot Mandarin Orange Chicken!  Oh, well!

So, instead...here are a few cute ideas for Easter.  A "Peep" in a little graham cracker house, complete with edible grass and edible eggs.  My husband would steal the Peeps and eat them (yucky, in my opinion!).

And the next cute food craft is bunny pancakes!  Kids would surely want to gobble him up!  If they don't like coconut, replace it with yogurt or a little spray of whipped topping. Adorable!

Bacon Turtle Burger

Have you seen this??!  It's a Bacon Turtle Burger!  Actually, I would call it a Bacon Turtle Burger Dog, but left the "dog" off because of the link I am sharing.  They don't use the "dog" part.  Anyway, this weekend may be the perfect weekend to try this popular bacon-weaved turtle!  Here's the link: http://bacontoday.com/bacon-turtle-burgers/

Veggie Christmas Tree

For our elementary youth group party, I looked up photos of Christmas themed food.  I saw a vegetable Christmas tree and decided to make one to serve.  I wasn't sure the young children (Kindergarten - 5th grade) would be too excited about eating veggies, but they were!  They did have an option of Ranch dip to go along with the veggies, so some probably liked that part, too.

Almost too pretty to eat, huh?  I used broccoli, carrots, cherry tomatoes, and yellow bell peppers.

Halloween Snacks

At yesterday's 4-H meeting, the 4-H members were treated to some fun Halloween snacks by one of the moms.  She found the recipe ideas on Pinterest, and even used one of the snacks to teach the members how to make them themselves.  They really enjoyed making the treats and eating them, too!
Witch's Hats
Fingers (carrot sticks with almond sliver nails) & Dip
Getting the apples ready for the Monster Mouths.
Demonstrating how to make the Monster Mouths.
J.W. showing his "Mouth"!  The Monster Mouths are made using apples, caramel, and torn marshmallows for teeth.

Acorn Donut Hole Snacks

Last weekend at the ladies retreat, one of my friends made this cut acorn snacks.  They were cute and tasted good, too!  Here are the instructions, per Bridget:  Take a donut hole, dip one end into Nutella and roll it in toffee bits.  Stick a pretzel stick in the end and you have an acorn snack!  Perfect for fall!

This recipe was found by Bridget on Pinterest.  Thanks to whomever was the original creator of this recipe!  Great idea!

Daniel in the Lions' Den Snack

Posted by Lori:
When one of the Vacation Bible School lessons is Daniel in the Lions' Den, you must have a lion snack, right?  Of course!

Food crafts help create lasting memories of the story in the minds of children, so that is the main reason I like to do them.  The children are always ready for a little snack after the lesson and activities, anyway.

For this lion use the following ingredients:

1 round cracker
Peanut butter ( if allergic, just leave off)
Chow mein noodles (they had a choice of these or pretzel sticks)
Reeses Pieces (or if allergic used chocolate chips)
Chocolate licorice for whiskers and ears

Enjoy!
